Dermaplaning
Dermaplaning is one of our mechanical exfoliating treatments. We remove the dull dead skin layer, along with any facial hair, often referred to as ‘peach fuzz’, or by the more technical term vellus hair - that really fine hair on your face.
This hair and skin removal leads to brighter, fresher and smoother skin with zero downtime and long-lasting results.
One of our very experienced nurses, or our in-house doctor uses a painless blade to gently scrape away the build-up of dead skin cells and dirt which often leave our skin looking dull or uneven. This takes off that peach fuzz layer too. The gentle exfoliation also removes barriers that have blocking products, so they can penetrate the skin better and do their job more effectively.
We also combine this treatment with a super hydrating aqua infusion mask. The dermaplaning prepares the skin, allowing the hydrating aqua mask to work on a deeper level with better product penetration. The perfect combination for a flawless look whilst hydrating the skin.

How does dermaplaning work?
It’s a little bit like shaving your face, but it’s a bit more technical than that. We use a painless blade to scrape away and remove the top layer of dull dead skin and peach fuzz to leave fresher, smoother skin.
Is dermaplaning dangerous?
Not at EK Clinic® but we do not recommend you try this at home. There are products available but there are risks with at home treatments if the user has not been trained and is not using sterile equipment. There are serious risks of cuts, inflammation, infection. At EK Clinic® we understand your skin and the best way to treat it, we can also see skin conditions that you can’t that you may aggravate by self-treating.
Results are also much more effective in a Clinic performed by a professional.

How often is dermaplaning needed?
If you are dermaplaning to treat peach fuzz, then this very much depends on the speed at which your hair grows back. We recommend giving time for your skin to recover between sessions, so we plan treatments with around 4 to 6 weeks in between.
